Experts: Share of hacktivists’ DDoS attacks falls to 26% in Oct
MOSCOW, Nov 24 (PRIME) -- The share of politically motivated DDoS attacks in Russia decreased to 26% of the total number of attacks in October from 68% a year earlier, cybersecurity company StormWall said on Friday in a research.
“The number of traditional DDoS attacks seeking to get profit was far ahead of the number of attacks orchestrated by politically motivated hacktivists. According to the company’s analysts, traditional DDoS attacks accounted for 74% in October 2023, while the share of hacktivists’ attacks accounted for 26% of the total number of all cyber incidents in Russia,” StormWall said.
“In October 2022, traditional DDoS attacks stood at 32% and hacktivists’ attacks at 68% of the total number of cyber incidents in Russia because of the complicated political situation.”
The activities of hacktivists declined because of a lack of technical resources and insufficient motivation of perpetrators, StormWall said.
